The Douro Valley is one of the oldest delimited wine regions in the world, dating from 1756. Mostly famous for the production of fortified Port wine, the Douro Valley is also an important producer of unfortified wines. Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) are considered to be the best grapes of over 100 different grapes allowed in the region. The wines carry a reminiscence of young Port with ripeness and spiciness.
In April 2000, Vicente Leite de Faria started producing wines in the Douro Valley, thereby continuing the family tradition. With the knowledge and experience gathered from several years in wine-growing companies, he was successful in obtaining high quality wines from high potential ‘terroirs’ where parcels of vineyard are carefully chosen. The vinification takes place in cellars situated in the Douro Valley, using a careful technology which aims at exalting and preserving the wine’s quality potential. |
