The Herdade is located in Marmelar, Vidigueira, a location with a centuries-old winemaking tradition dating back to Roman times and later pursued by the Knights Templar.
To this fine tradition and to the richness of its soils, considerable investments to improve water management resources was made by Momte Herdade da Ribeira, building dams on the water course running through the Herdade in order to optimize conditions indispensable to the vineyards.
