Tasting Notes

An old white wine from 1973. With a gold colour and very elegant aromas of honey, hazelnut, almonds and plums. On the mouth is rich and reveals the perfect balance between alcohol and acidity, providing a long and persistent finish.

Grapes: Traditional Douro Demarcated Region grapes:Malvazia Fina, Malvasia Rei, Moscatel Galedo and Cerceal

Region / Vineyards

Casa de Santa Eufêmia is a Port House family affair since 1894. Today Lucia is the responsible for the wine making while other two brothers look after the marketing and the cellars. The 40 ha of the vineyards grow on schist terraces located on the left bank of the Douro River at an altitude of 300 meters between Peso da Régua and Pinhao, the heart of the oldest demarcated wine producing region – The Douro.

Vinification / Ageing

De-stalking and crushing, fermentation in cement vats. The Brandy is added when the desired level of sugar is achieved. Ageing is 50% in large barrels, 45% in large wood casks, 5% in 550 litre chestnut wood casks.
